Body Talk

What do we really believe about our physical body related to our walk with God? As it relates to the will of God in our life, His good, acceptable and perfect will? (Romans 12:1-2) What do our actions demonstrate to God and others about how we value our physical body? We might read or hear what the Word says about our physical body, believe it, and even then receive it... But does the act of speaking the words of God follow, and do our actions follow suit? How do we treat our own body, given that our body belongs entirely to Him? He has appointed us as stewards and entrusted to us the care of our own body, and so, how do we measure up? Do we even believe this? Let's see...

Do I yield my body to God and His will, all the time? (Romans 12:1, 6:13-20) Do I come before Him each day to make my body a living sacrifice, minute by minute, a holy and aceptable sacrifice? (Romans 12:1) Do I put off the sins of my body continually (Col 2:1) and mortify its deeds? (Romans 8:13) Do I reckon my body dead to sin and always alive to God? (Romans 6:11) Do I refuse to accept my body's natural slavery to sin (Romans 6:12) and refuse to defile it at all costs? (1 Cor 3:17) Do I ensure my body is free from fornication? (1 Cor 6:13-20) Do I choose to make my body full of light (Matthew 6:22) and do I glorify God in it, and with it? (1 Corinthians 6:20) Do I keep my body under control? (1 Cor 9:27). Do I live and consecrate myself as a part of the Body of Christ, a place in which the Holy Spirit may be pleased and comfortable to reside? Is He happy to dwell in me? (1 Corinthians 3:16-17, 6:13-20) Do I believe that these things are attainable?

All instruction in the Word of God is for us, and everything God commanded is relevant and attainable. We must get this, that the degree to which we develop holiness and purty in our own physical body will determine our level of success in becoming acceptable to God, in developing our own spritual maturity, and in walking in the fullness of God, This change doesn't happen on its own. We don't become a pure and powerful vessel for God to use by accident, or evolve by chance. We don't become aceptable to God without first making a commitment and then intentionally enacting change. It is the individual choices we make as a result of embracing our responsibility concerning our own physical body that serve to create the strength, peace, and holiness that must exist to be able to see the Lord. (Hebrews 12:14) Consecration and holiness in our physical body will open doors through which the Holy spirit may do extrordinary, far reaching, and significant works in us.

Again, every Word of God is our instruction, and we must follow it. It IS fully attainable, or it would not be in the Word of God. We are to present ourselves as sacifices, as were the former sacrifices of old presented in the temple. Those things found closest to God are always consecrated, sanctified, holy and pure. Therefore, "I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that YOU present YOUR OWN body a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is YOUR reasonable service." (Romans 12;1) Let's dig in and start to make a difference,. It won't take long for that difference to be felt not only literally in our own physical body, but throughout the Body of Christ!
